What is San Diego Startup Week?

Once a year, the San Diego Startup Community comes together to learn from one another, share our progress, and celebrate the community as a whole. That’s right, I’m talking “thousands of LOCAL Entrepreneurs, Developers, Designers, Investors, Students, Community Leaders”, all in one place to “showcase exciting local innovation, share resources, and knowledge,” and network, of course.

Tell Me More!

From Monday the 25th to Friday the 29th, Startup San Diego will take over the Downtown Civic Center (we’re talking 9 am – 5 pm) with educational sessions: speakers, panels, workshops, as well as community and startup fairs, and evening social events, all featuring stars of the San Diego (and abroad) tech and entrepreneur community.

‍This year there are over 200+ speakers confirmed for 6 enlightening tracks. Tracks and Topics are a way of categorizing all of the information you can learn, making it easy to find the sessions you want to attend. This year tracks break down into stages of a startup: Idea, Seed, and Growth as well as Tech associated with startup life: Developer, Design, and Marketing. Sessions of highlighted topics will span across all the tracks, including Biotech, the Binational community in SD, Cannabis, Cleantech, Diversity and Inclusion, and a focus on what’s happening in North County.

AND San Diego Startup Week is thrilled to present the Keynote Speaker, Arlan Hamilton, Managing Partner at Backstage Capital, a fund that is “dedicated to investing in high-potential founders who are of color, women, and/or LGBT” and just happens to be one of the hottest VC’s in the country!

What Part Does Diamond + Branch Play In This?!?!

Well, I promised i would share more of the ways I’m helping to create an inclusive tech industry in San Diego — and this is one of them!

You can see me in action on Tuesday the 26th, at 10:15, as I moderate a panel on ‘Building an Ecosystem For All,’ where we’ll talk about how to foster a diverse and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem in San Diego.

In addition, as the Managing Director of Community for Startup San Diego, I’m leading my team of awesome volunteers in putting on FOUR lunchtime Community Fairs, as a way to show participants of SDSW all of the resources available to them in the SD Startup Community. On Tuesday, the fair will be focused on Freelancers showing off their skill sets. Wednesday features all sorts of resources available to YOU, the SD Startup Community, as you get started and grow your Startup or Entrepreneurial Endeavor! And Thursday highlights resources available for promoting, increasing, and helping Diversity and Inclusion in Tech and Entrepreneurship. The week will be capped with the notorious Startup Fair, where the who’s who in the SD STARTUP SCENE will demo their products, showcase their services, and hire, hire, hire! End your week networking with your new best friends as you explore these fantastic Startups.

You KNOW Lindsay Has Jumped In Head First With Me!

She’ll be teaching the Startup World at 2 pm on Tuesday the 26th about ‘Getting your Launch Marketing Sh!t Together: What you need and how to use it.’

Lindsay will walk her audience through the MVPs of essential marketing assets and how to use them to create an actionable marketing plan, including key elements like building your marketing personas, mapping your buyer's journey, identifying your key messages, and planning campaigns and content. With the result being a part-time marketer’s dream: An actionable, strategically-informed content plan, complete with measurable goals!
